With the increasing power of mobile phones, people’s dependency on mobile phones grows. On crowded buses, during work, while dating, eating, and sleeping—it seems that every space in life has been lled with mobile phones. It has gradually become the indispensable “person” in people’s life. Many people make friends on social networks and talk passionately with strangers, but in real life they are always silent and fearful of social connections. This makes people wonder that whether cell phones actually bridge the distance between people or rather if they make everyone more distant from each another? Our animation is a two-dimensional animated short that looks into this social phenomenon.

The animation work Down employs a child’s perspective and describes the process of a little boy from his not understanding a world where no one ever puts down their cell phones to his nal assimilation. I hope that through this lm, people around the world can put down their phones, meet people they care about in person, and never con ne themselves to the small box of the phone.

Today, many people are stuck to their mobile phones. Facing the screen all the time, face-to-face communication has almost disappeared. The work offers a child's perspective, and shows with exaggerated irony people in the modern world depending too much on the phone, to the point of being a pathological phenomenon. The work is distinctive, humorous, coherent, and full of imagination.
